Footprints is a sock yarn from Wooladdicts, the design line from Lang Yarns. Colourful strands are plied together for a painterly, speckled effect – the pattern appears by itself as you knit, so no two pairs of socks are ever alike.

The cotton makes the yarn breathable and a little cooler than an all-wool sock yarn, while the wool and polyamide give elasticity and strength. It is superwash-treated, so your socks can go in the washing machine at 30 °C on a wool programme.

One 100 g ball is enough for a pair of adult socks. Footprints is also lovely for summer sweaters, cardigans and shawls – try it held together with a strand of mohair.
