Sport yarn is a lightweight yarn that sits between fingering and DK in thickness. Sport yarn creates a light but slightly more substantial fabric than fingering, offering good drape while providing a bit more warmth and structure.

It is a perfect yarn to use for stranded colorwork because the garment is not too thick and chunky, but still warm.

A sport yarn should have approximately 22-26 stitches per 10 cm when knitted up.
